i honestly prefer the sketch of this to the final result, but whatever, i was trying to experiment more than anything.
Sombra still holds a small hold on those who have used his magic, and sort of 'corrupts' their user if Sombra so chooses. When in the crystal empire, Twilight had to cast his spell to find the crystal heart. after he was defeated, all seemed fine for a while, but, the effects of his magic began to set in, and sure enough Sombra was taking control of twilight through her magic. Through her powers, Sombra's empire returned.
during the process, her magic is constantly drained, and she is completely unaware and unable to control what is happening. Eventually, once he's finished, she'll have had so much energy drained that she'll be unable to fight back against him.
fuck idk, does that make sense? this has been done too many times. it's 1am and I just thought it looked cool leave me alone.

Insidious evil like lord of the rings, a creeping rot so slow and gradual you won’t noctuce until it’s too late.
still, that makes me wonder, I’m guessing celestia didnt have this problem because she didn’t use said magic on Sombra’s chamber.
while I do like the idea that this is how Sombra could have anchored himself to the living world to gradually pull himself back from the ether
I’m not too thrilled as this would undoubtedly be yet another reason for the mane six to double down even further in their “destiny” and top down approach to friendship.
